International Day in ISMA

Having fun and cognizing other cultures – it was the goal set for our International Day, which took place on December 6 in ISMA.  After 3 hours of an extremely fruitful event it was sure: we succeeded!

The event was dedicated to our International students and their countries of origin. They had a great opportunity to get to know the most striking and fascinating facts of such countries as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Spain, Ukraine, share their experience about Riga and listen to the local students talking about Latvia. But the evening consisted not only of presentations and videos.

Some students decided to demonstrate their talent and sing national songs of their countries and show the traditional dances, which was more than appropriate, since it was a good way to entertain others and let them become one step closer to the very core of the folk side of the motherlands of the participants. We were amazed by the magnificent voices of such students as Vika Miloradova and Valerie Solodarenko. After having a cultural and educative part, we proceeded with national cuisine! Spain, Latvia and Ukraine made us extremely glad by bringing some traditional dishes, so that everybody was able to “to try the country”.

The perfect end of the event was caused by the union of Latvian and Ukrainian students singing Ukrainian song and doing a round dance. And as far as the dance stopped, our event came to its end. Our Student Union would like to extend our appreciation to everybody, who contributed to this wonderful piece of unforgettable experience. Special thanks to Sergio Perez Alvarez, who was Erasmus student in ISMA last year and kindly helped us to create a story of our event using BuzzTale app.

We are looking forward to organizing something like this again, apparently,  just to enjoy a friendly company and have an amazing evening again.

Ellina Redvanova,
Head of the External affairs’ sector of ISMA SSG
